7-26-09: We stayed another day in the same campground but switched to another site that was beside the river (didn’t get the river’s name but Owl Creek fed into it). Mike went for a bike ride while Patty and the kids played in Owl Creek. The Creek was shallow with lots of stepping stones but Gaby and Luke were able to find small pools to submerge most of their bodies and mini-waterfalls to put their heads under.

Upon Mike’s return, we headed to Mosquito Lake for cooling off since the temperatures remained hot (95+ degree F weather). The lake was a spring-fed lake thus more comfortable for swimming than the glacier-fed lakes that abound in this area. Luckily it was to hot for the mosquitos to be out while we swam. We found out that Sasha did not want to jump off the floating dock into the lake; thus far she has been afraid of the ocean waves and the lake dock which is surprising since she loved fetching sticks from the Rio Grande River just outside our backyard at home. We met a friendly, young couple at the lake who had recently opened a pizza place near our campground (Mt. Currie) thus we decided to go there for dinner and give them our business. The place had Wi-Fi so we were able to update our blog while enjoying good pizza.
